CAR RENTAL

A car is essential for getting around. There is space for 2 cars to be parked outside CanFin. There are several car rental agencies in Ibiza airport, including Hertz and Avis. Local companies can be a lot cheaper, such as:

www.balearicrentacar.com - locally this company is called Hiper (pronounced Ee-pair) Rentacar - recognised in the arrivals hall by their yellow shirt, they then take you by minibus to their office nearby. This company can be considerably cheaper than any of the other agencies, however patience is required as admin can take longer. NB. they will add 16% VAT to the initial quote online, but you do get a 5% discount for advance online payment at the time of booking rather than paying when you pick up. Always best to confirm the booking by phone on the day of travel with Balearic.

NB. Out of season do include your flight number, as on arrival you may run the risk of encountering a closed office with the smaller companies.

www.centauro.net whose double-sided office is located both in the Baggage Reclaim section and in the Arrivals Hall. Good experience with them so far. Start the "car-picking-up" admin while someone else waits for the baggage to arrive. You walk to a nearby multi-storey car park to pick up the car.

The nearest petrol station to CanFin is 1km east of Sant Josep on the main Eivissa road. There is also one on the road to Ibiza Town from the airport: you have to drive past this petrol station and come off the "motorway" at the next exit and then double back on yourself to reach the station on the other side of the road.

To drive to CanFin we will send you directions from Ibiza Airport once a booking has been made.

TAXIS

If you all want a night on the town - ask one of the bars in Es Cubells to call you a taxi i.e. one or two volunteers walk 1km up to the village from the house to book the taxi. It normally takes about 10 minutes to arrive - ample time for a beer overlooking the sea. You can then escort the taxi through the security gate and down the hill to CanFin to pick up the others.

On the return journey, taxis know how to get to the la plaza in Es Cubells, but they need directions to take you to the door of CanFin. The price of a taxi to Ibiza Town from Es Cubells is about 25 euros one way.
