Two friends, John Findlay and Michelle Cannon, bought the house in June 2004 naming it CanFin - a combination of their surnames. (Handily C'an is the Catalan equivalent of Chez in French, meaning 'the house of').

The house sleeps 7 people and is situated on a hillside, high above the local beach. It is 1km west of the village of Es Cubells in the south west region of Sant Josep, 13km from Ibiza airport and 20km (25 mins drive) from Ibiza Town.

Forget the UK media image of Ibiza, this is an area far removed from the world of lager... This is rather a world of natural beauty and tranquility: no clubs, no crowds, no passing traffic, just the sound of cicadas and the waves gently lapping on the beach below.

Please note that the house is unsuitable for groups wishing to party and play loud music into the night. Canfin is situated in an exclusive area whose residents are keen to preserve their quieter lifestyle.

CanFin is the middle property of the 3 pictured on the right. Although it is not a detached villa, each of these properties are privately owned, self-contained entities with their own private pools. There are no communal areas.

Interior:

The entrance level:

• 2 bedrooms with a shared balcony, terrace & double beds in each room
• 2 bathrooms (one ensuite) both with double sinks & shower over the bath
• a further single bedroom

The lower level:

• kitchen
• adjoining utility room with washing machine & ironing board
• a further twin bedroom
• an additional bathroom with double sink & shower over the bath
• large living room area with 2-seater sofa, 4-seater sofa, fireplace, dining table, TV/DVD, CD player, 2 double windows overlooking the sea, pool & terrace
• doorway onto partially covered, secluded dining terrace with steps leading down to pool area

The upper level:

• a landing area with shuttered double window
• glass door leading onto the roof terrace

Exterior:

Passing through the covered dining terrace from the living room, steps lead down to the paved pool area. The 6m x 3m private pool is maintained on a weekly basis. From here there are magnificent views along the rugged coastline and out across the Mediterranean.

Below the pool is a more secluded terrace, this is the perfect spot for an evening cocktail, gazing across the sea towards the lights of Formentera twinkling in the distance. Full moon nights are particularly magical (see below).
